Community
We are passionate about engaging our local community with nature and sharing knowledge with others about rewilding and biodiversity. We do this through a number of different ways.
Friends of Denmarkfield
Running since 2021, this fun and friendly community group allows volunteers to get together and get involved with different tasks on site throughout the year. In the past, Friends of Denmarkfield have helped with tree planting, wildflower seed sowing, invasive species removal, orchard maintenance and much more. We also have annual special events such as our festive gathering. Volunteers can meet others, develop new skills, and share knowledge, whilst making a difference for local nature recovery, out in the fresh air.
Families and those with different abilities welcome - please do get in touch with any queries. If you would like to join Friends of Denmarkfield and receive emails about upcoming sessions and other ways to get involved, visit the contact us tab.

Allotments
We have 49 allotment plots and a community orchard, enabling organic food production to happen on site. Plots range in size, the smallest being 9mx5.4m, medium 9mx9m, and the largest 9mx18m! There is a composting toilet and, in 2024, we also built a community hub (since named "Bumblebee Bothy") which was funded through Perth and Kinross Council's Green Living Fund. This provides shelter and a gathering space for both allotmenteers and events.

If you're interested in a plot, please contact Laurie via the form on the contact us tab.
Equally, if you would like to join this growing community but can't commit to a whole plot, please still get in touch.
N.B. Due to access restrictions, priority is given to people who will predominantly access the plots by active travel or public transport.
Events
We often run nature-related events and workshops on different topics relevant to the nature we have - or could have - on site. In the past we have hosted bat, bumblebee, butterfly, bird and botany workshops and 'safaris'. We welcome experts to talk at these events and share their insightful knowledge which helps us connect with the natural world around us and identify species.

If you would be interested in leading a walk, talk, workshop, or event in conjunction with Rewilding Denmarkfield - please get in touch!

We also have an annual open day to celebrate our anniversary - coming this year on Sunday 6th July!

Group visits & volunteering
We welcome visits from local groups and third sector organisations - come and see the site, learn about what rewilding means here, and maybe get involved in some conservation volunteering or ecological monitoring.
Visits can be tailored to different interests and abilities. Sessions on site can offer nature connection, respite, and skills development in a friendly, wellbeing-focused environment.

Do you work for an organisation that provides volunteering days? We can host corporate volunteering teams, allowing you to give back to a local environmental project whilst connecting with nature and with colleagues.
We can also offer bespoke guided tours for those wanting more in-depth rewilding information.
