We are Rewilding Denmarkfield
Denmarkfield is a 91-acre rewilding project, located between the village of Luncarty and the city of Perth in Scotland. In 2016, the land was purchased by Amy and Graham Allen and, in 2020, they dedicated the site to nature restoration. Set within a landscape of growing infrastructure, we envision this pocket of land as a haven for nature, a mosaic of different habitats where local wildlife flourishes.
Restore. Monitor. Engage.
We aim to:
-
Contribute to stopping the current ecological and climate emergency by restoring natural processes, native habitats, and increasing biodiversity
-
Support community-based environmental action by providing opportunities for nature connection, environmental education, conservation volunteering, and greenspace access
We are a registered Scottish charity (SC053632).

Our site
Denmarkfield is made up of three former arable fields, flanked by the River Tay on one side and the A9 on the other. Thought to be the site of the medieval 'Battle of Luncarty' where Scots faced off the Danes, it is rich in history and folklore. A new tale has recently begun.
Intensive farming ended in 2020 for the House field, and in 2021 for both the East and West fields. We have sown some species rich grasslands across the site, including a large area to the north of the site in 2023, funded by the Nature Restoration Fund and abundant with pollinators in the summer season. Over 10,000 native trees and shrubs have been planted, with a focus now on tree care and observing natural regeneration and succession. We have also created wetland scrapes, built seed islands, and introduced cattle - you can read more about these under the projects section of this website.
Below you will find a map of Rewilding Denmarkfield and photos which show the changing fields across the years.
